VIRACEPT RECALL: advice from Roche; Important information for patients

  Summary
Roche is, with immediate effect, recalling all stock of Viracept tablets and powder in countries outside the US, Canada and Japan. This is because an impurity has been reported in some of these formulations. It is important that you see your HIV health care provider as soon as possible to change onto alternative treatment.

Immediate actions
1. Contact your HIV healthcare provider immediately and seek his/her advice about stopping Viracept, and switching to alternative therapies.
2. Please make every effort to reach your healthcare provider right away to avoid staying on treatment with Viracept any longer than necessary.
3. It is recommended that you continue to take Viracept and all your other HIV medications until you have been advised by your HIV healthcare provider.
4. Please return any Viracept packs you have to your healthcare provider or pharmacist.

Our primary concern is to make sure that no one is harmed because of taking Viracept, therefore we are recalling these tablets and powder with immediate effect.

We deeply regret any inconvenience that this recall causes. We wish to confirm that Roche is fully engaged in managing this recall and is acting as quickly as possible to make Viracept available again.
