HCM City: 12,000 HIV/AIDS patients receive free treatment

More than 12,000 of over 30,000 HIV/AIDS patients in Ho Chi Minh City have got free-of-charge health care and treatment for tuberculosis, infectious, digestive and dermatological diseases, and 4,500 of them are receiving free HIV treatment by ARV.
 
The figure was reported by the Ho Chi Minh AIDS Prevention and Combat Committee at a regular working session between Vietnamese and international organisations on HIV/AIDS prevention strategies on January 25.
 
HCM City hasa large number of voluntary groups, which involve many patients afflicted with HIV who play an active role in giving consultancy and caring for AIDS patients.
 
HCM City now has more than 10,000 HIV positive people taking part in a network for activities and information dissemination to prevent HIV/AIDS from spreading. (VNA)
