GRANT AWARDS
Individual awards will range between $100,000 and $750,000, with a grant period of 1-3 years.

Nearly 50 percent of People Living with HIV (PLWH) in the U.S. are 50 or older, and that number is expected to grow to 70% by 2020. Aging with HIV may present challenges that demand innovative solutions.

The Gilead HIV Age Positively™ initiative supports programs that may help improve quality of life and health for aging PLWH. We're providing philanthropic support in three categories: improve care coordination, increase resources for better wellbeing, and educate and inform policy.

Hello -

As people living with HIV (PLWH) live longer, they not only face the expected challenges associated with the natural aging process but may also experience other significant challenges before their peers not living with HIV. Today, with many scientific advances and therapeutic options, those living with HIV who are on effective treatments can expect normal life expectancy. Current data indicates that nearly 50% of PLWH living in the United States are 50 years or older, and that number is estimated to increase to 70% by 2020.

For over 30 years, Gilead has worked to improve treatments for people living with HIV, helping transform HIV infection from a fatal and debilitating disease into a chronic, manageable condition. Though successful prevention and treatment options are critical interventions in the effort to end the HIV epidemic, identifying novel agents and strategies that could play a role in eradicating HIV infection in the body remains an important aspect of Gilead's commitment to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

As part of our ongoing commitment to ending the HIV epidemic, Gilead has long supported community-led programs for PLWH and we seek to further understand the evolving needs of PLWH as they age. As a continuation of that work, today we would like to make you aware of the funding opportunity announcement through our new Gilead HIV Age Positively™ Community Impact Program.* Please review the attached document to learn more.
