If a person has the antibodies and not the virus are they still considered carriers?

Dear Dr. Chung,

If a person has the antibodies and not the virus are they still considered carriers? Can the antibodies do any harm? If a person clears the virus can they still have the antibodies? Are they infectious too?

Thank you,

All good questions. we don't have all the answers, but it appears that most people whe test negative for PCR consistently have effectively cleared the virus and will not be at risk for reinfection. the antibodies do not cause harm. the antibodies can persist for years in someone who has successfully gotten rid of the virus. they are not infectious
