I am currently 35 weeks pregnant and have chronic Hep C. I previously breast feed my 5 year old son, who is Hep C negative. I am planning to breast feed my newest child as well, but have been having doubts regarding the saftey of this. Could you please let me know what the transmission possibility is as well as any statistical or clinical data supporting transmission risk.

There is no evidence for transmissibility of HCV through breast milk. if you still harbor concerns in spite of the absence of evidence, as some do, then you should discontinue the practice.
