Dear Dr. Chung,

I recently had an ultrasound, and they found fibrous & fatty tissue on my liver. I know I'm significantly overweight but the fibrous was what I was wondering about. Does that normally present with the fatty tissue for overweight people, or could that be from my HepC? I am chronic not active. Last time I was checked. My doctor ordered liver function tests but I don't have the results yet. These have always been normal in the past. I have alot of the symptons mentioned in the forums, fatigues, pain in the right upper quandrant, joint aches, rash on my face, itching red hands. (Only red when they itch) I just had an oozing sore in my groin that also has enlarged lymph node by it.

Anyway, can you answer with your thoughts on the Ultrasound results?

Thanks!

The answer is -- we can't distinguish. the only way to sort out what is fatty liver from what is HCV is a liver biopsy. this will provide important information about how much scarring there really is.
