I am a 53yo otherwise very healthy male, HCV rx failed with combo RX 6mo, responded with neg PCR after 3mo but relapsed post 60mo follow-up in 1999. Genotype 1a considering induction Rx 10mu q day for 14wk then 5mu every other day for 9mo.
 
Question do they use Pegalated with induction Rx? If so what is the protocol? If not what protocol is used for genotype 1a and do they use Pegalated for the maintenance dosing with Riboviran. Is Riboviran used in the loading phase of induction?
 

Induction for the most part has been disproved as an effective strategy. for treatment , pegifn is therefore not used as an induction regimen. for 1a full dose PEG IFN + ribavirin are being used. treatment trials of maintenance are using half-doses of PEG (0.5 mcg/kg/wk of PEGINtron, 90 mcg weekly of PEGasys) without ribavirin.
