Is it common for ALT's and AST's (in Hep C patients) to elevate after
giving birth? If this is true, is there a time frame that the liver enzymes
will begin to lower again?

It isn't really well-studied. As you know, however, liver enzymes are notable for fluctuating in HCV... I would follow this over time.
I suspect you will see lowering in the next several weeks.
