I was told by a doctor friend that he thinks my pains are an autoimmune response

Dear Dr. Chung,

I am HCV+ and have never beeen treated. I am reaching a poinyt where I am getting very sick daily. One of the main concerns I have is that I am getting pains all through my legs and up my thighs into my scrotum even. The pain is like muscles burning and ripping. Also joint pain. I am on a long vacation in Europe and have access to a doctor only on cash basis. I was told by a doctor friend that he thinks my pains are an autoimmune response and the URQ pains are from the virus. just to add I eneded up taking Xanax to manage the anxiety and the pain for the last month (probably not the best idea) THE QUESTION: What could I tell a specialst on my one afforded visit so that he might check my blood(or whatever test applies) for these pains and a possible autoimmune response rather than him simply telling me I have HCv. I already know that. I only get to see one doctor so I want to make the most of it.

You should see a liver specialist who is experienced in treating HCV. You may very well benefit from a course of antiviral treatment to see if your symptoms improve.
