Adipose Tissue [belly, subcutaneous] and HIV infection

"Adipose tissue CD4 T cells and macrophages are infected with SIV....HIV-infected cells are present in adipose tissue samples from ART-treated, a viremic patients.....HIV virus within adipose tissue CD4 T lymphocytes is competent for replication.....SIV infection induces alterations in both adipocytes and adipose immune cells.....Chronic SIV infection induces an accumulation of CD8 T cells and a preservation of CD4 T cells number [in adipose].....Adipose CD4 T cells are localized within adipose tissue whereas adipose CD8 T cells are in the perivascular area."
