In his talk he traces through the earlier days about 13 years ago starting when reports were beginning of HCV sexual transmission among MSM in Europe and the then lack of recognition about this in the USA and NYC too. It was thought HCV transmission was a problem mostly in IUs but not among MSM with sexual transmission. And then the more recent observations, an "alarming” report, starting around 2011 of reinfection reported out of Amsterdam, which again reinfection was not well recognized either in the USA or NYC as a big problem although many knew of it. Dr Feirer was a vocal leader in this cause at the very beginning conducting studies in NYC as well I was vocal about this, but it went unrecognized for years.
