Abstract

In this prospective pharmacokinetic study of women undergoing chronic hepatitis C virus treatment with glecaprevir/pibrentasvir, the mean glecaprevir and pibrentasvir concentrations in breastmilk were 0.63% and 4.23% of maternal plasma concentrations, with a mean relative infant dose of 0.02% and 0.06%, respectively.

These findings provide the first preliminary data on quantification of GLE/PIB in breastmilk. They demonstrate that it is excreted into breastmilk at levels that would be classified as minimal based on relative infant dose safety standards. These findings are reassuring for infant safety and support consideration of GLE/PIB during breastfeeding.
